My name is Ms. Judy, and I’m a teacher at Discovery Montessori Academy. I hold a Montessori certification from Collin College and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Zhengzhou University in China. I have 16 years of teaching experience in China and many years of Montessori teaching experience in the United States, where I currently teach at Plano ISD. I’m passionate about promoting Chinese and have judged numerous Chinese language competitions in Dallas. We have lived in the Dallas area since 2004 and, in my spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and exploring the outdoors with my family. I’m excited to introduce Chinese to your children and look forward to seeing their love for the language and Chinese culture grow.
Ms. Katherine Mai
With a strong foundation in education spanning two continents, I bring a global perspective to teaching. Originally from China, I earned my Bachelor’s in Geography Education and began my teaching career, receiving recognition as an Outstanding Teacher in 2016. Seeking to expand my expertise, I pursued a Master’s in Teaching at the University of Texas at Dallas, where I also completed the UTeach Dallas program, earning certifications in 7-12 Science and 7-12 ELL Education.
Over my 5+ years in education, I’ve taught diverse learners across K-12, specializing in creating student-centered, inquiry-based classrooms. My teaching philosophy emphasizes inclusivity, hands-on learning, and fostering curiosity—whether in science or language development.
When not in the classroom, I recharge by traveling, singing, gardening, and cooking. My greatest joy, however, comes from family time, especially playing hide and seek with my daughter.
Let’s connect and inspire the next generation together!
